Creating a music video to announce GlobalSKU's Android launch.
"As an Android user myself, I've been wanting this release. How do you announce it in a way that gets people excited?"
We needed to make a video for the Android release. I'm an Android user, and have been annoyed with having to not use my phone for Android. We've been experimenting with marketing methods with videos, and I wanted to make a music video.
I had recently watched the Men in Black music video and was inspired, but needed to get something out by Monday.
I had recently watched the Men in Black movies, and it reminded me of how I enjoyed the music video during my childhood. I had a moment of creative freedom where we needed a release video, and I decided to just up and make a music video.
I figured maybe we could try something different with our socila media marketing, and I wanted to put my videomaking skills to the test.
I created the original footage for a coworker since they didn't have an Android. I recorded some extra stuff and tried to make something out of it, but it wasn't hitting. I stood up from my desk, grabbed my Fuji, arranged some lights, slapped it on my tripod, and started filming myself doing music video style movement.
My thought process was that I was unsure about the shoes, but after using GlobalSKU, not only did I become confident, but I started reselling and became cool like in the music video.
With me dancing for most of the footage, I needed something eye catching for the marketing. So I updated Blender and got started with learning how to animate. Having just done it on Premiere, figuring out Blender's system was pretty easy.
The movement and pacing of the words was the most interesting part. If I just stopped the movement of the words, it would be jarring, so I had to add this slow flowing effect after they stop to keep it smooth. So it'd keep flowing nice and slowly after it stops.
Getting the lighting right was also interesting. I had to add so many lights to get it to look the way I wanted.
The final video came together better than expected. What started as a rough recording in my room became something I'm genuinely proud of.
I'm always looking for new projects, able to learn quickly, and can adapt to any challenge thrown my way. Feel free to reach out and chat with me about any projects you're trying to complete.
